I asked a native French friend who lives in Ireland yesterday about travelling to France as Michelle and she said she didn’t think there would be any problem.
I’m totally confused
I don’t necessarily read it as bad. As long as use your passport name on all your ID and tickets then all will be fine, and they even go on to say you can decide your gender at border control in order to facilitate the control.
The bit about notes from doctors etc sounds like it’s only needed if you want to have tickets and passport etc in different names or gender. In which case some legal gender identity certificate needed etc.
I think it’s just lost in translation. You can present however you want. Just keep your legal name.
That’s how I read it anyway. (And very much doubt you would need anything else to travel to EU essentially being yourself albeit in a skirt).
Absolutely go for it!
